Gail and me hit a local pit again this evening. It was a little cool and windy, and then the rain started right when we launched. We were hoping for some gills to fry up and were using worms without much luck. We finally decided to throw in the towel and were headed back to the ramp while pulling a couple jigs when the bite finally heated up. Ended up catching a dozen keepers and a crappie by trolling jigs just fast enough to keep them off the bottom. Smiling in the cold & rain... A few were pretty nice... They made a good supper this evening!

We tried again for a little while last night down the road at Midland Lake in Hillenbrand FWA. The weather was much nicer, but the fish weren't cooperating. The rainbow trout were jumping up out of the water and I thought for sure we'd hook into some, but we only managed 1 crappie.

It's good to know there are some trout holding over from the last couple of years.
I've always heard rumors of rainbows over twenty-inches getting pulled out of Airline. Maybe a few in Midland will get to that size.

It's good to know there are some trout holding over from the last couple of years. I know at one time there was a guy on Indiana Sportsman who had pics of some BIG ones that came out of Airline. The ones at Midland seemed really healthy as high as they were jumping!

I was actually concerned about them surviving the summers at Midland. It isn't nearly as deep as Airline or Island, but it is apparently deep enough for them to find some cools spots in the summer.

As much water as usually flows out the east end I'd say that it has to be spring fed.
