Looks like another tasty lunch.
Do you find any of these fall mushrooms in the same area(s) as you find morels in the spring?
I don't think I have ever seen any edible mushrooms in the fall, at least not that I recall.

Do you find any of these fall mushrooms in the same area(s) as you find morels in the spring? Same woods.....but not the exact area. I think I'll go and try again for a hen of the woods today. I remember seeing one at Shakamak one time before I knew for sure what they were. Wasn't sure about collecting any mushrooms but morels in state parks, but I just found this on the DNR website..... Am I allowed to hunt and collect mushrooms on state property?
Yes, it is legal to collect mushrooms while visiting state property. State law protects our wild areas, yet allows for this practice by declaring that, except as authorized by a license, a person must not damage or collect a plant or pick flowers; however, berries, fruits, nuts, fallen cones, mushrooms, leaves and greens are exempted.
The only places this doesn’t apply are DNR nature preserves, with an exception. If a nature preserve is located at a state park, reservoir property, fish and wildlife area or state forest, then a person may collect the aforementioned berries, fruits, etc.
Warning: Be very careful when collecting mushrooms. Only consume mushrooms you’re absolutely sure are safe to eat.

I'm sure the mushroom tastes good, but I've used the Andy's Cajun breading on morels as well as anything else if fry. Andy's is awesome. Have you prepared the puff any other way. There are several of them in my hunting area.

Yes it is. We eat a lot of fish so I try a lot of different batters and breadings....but I always go back to Andy's. Have you prepared the puff any other way. No, I'm pretty new to this fall mushroom thing. It's funny; the parmesan cheese was a last second decision, but after doing some research I see that there's lots of "parmesan crusted" puffball recipes out there. I'm still yet to try the "hen of the woods/sheeps head/maitake" mushroom that seems to be everyone's fall favorite. I've got my hopes high on the taste of that one because what I've tried so far has been on the bland side.
