I asked Gail what she wanted to do yesterday morning and she wanted to go somewhere we could catch some saltwater fish to eat. I figured our best odds were in the surf since we were able to catch a few the other day. Stopped and bought some live shrimp at Granada Bait & Tackle then headed north to Tom Renick Park in Ormond by the Sea. It was raining so we were able to fish right in front of the park. I caught some sand fleas to go along with the shrimp and we had some fish bites too. I told Gail if we could catch 5 whiting that would be a nice mess for the two of us. It didn’t take long to get 6 nice ones and then the bite really slowed. I did catch a couple smaller ones before dark and we both had something bigger on that got off. The sand fleas did the best but we did catch some on shrimp and 1 on the fish bites. I put them them on ice and cleaned and fried them this afternoon. Delicious!!

I need to try whiting. Also, heard they make great shark bait! They are DELICIOUS! Very mild fish comparable to crappie or bluegill I would say. There used to be a river front restaurant in Port Orange, FL called the Oyster Deck and they had a fish sandwich that was made with whiting and they would stack so many filets on it that you had to pull some off to pick it up and eat it.
