The first mud hole in the video is dove lake and the next one is called back lake on the map. I really like the second lake and there was actually a good amount of bank fishing. I think you could definitely end up with a nice mess of bluegills. The only bass I saw were the little dinkers I was catching. Super clear and steep banks like most pits here.

Very cool! I've hiked back to that Back Lake from the other road before. Had never tried Dove Lake. It looked about like our ponds do right now from all the rain. Not much biting there either.

It is pretty back there! I'm a fan of Back Lake. I'd like to make the trip back again.

I've hiked into Back Lake many times. One of my favorite fishing stories comes from that lake but it's too long to post on here right now. Hilly, how in the world did you get your kayak clear back there?

I've tried Dove Lake a couple of times and I don't think I ever pulled anything out of it. It's always a big mudhole when I'm there.

That video makes me want to get my butt back down there and hit some of my spots! I miss fishing down there.

Hilly, how in the world did you get your kayak clear back there? Where there's a kayak cart, there's a way! Tony and I did it a few years ago during the Hillbilly Bash. BTW we will be at Hillbilly Acres April 23-25. Welcome to come on by!

Not to change the subject, but a “memory” popped up on my Facebook this morning from 9 years ago that was from Hillenbrand. Colton and me tore up the pre-spawn bluegill and redear at Front Lake.

Those dink bass can be annoying, but if you are using light tackle and catch them when they are really biting it can be a lot of fun to hook into a few of them.
The water at the second pit looks beautiful.

I love the serenity of being back there. Someday I'll share my story with you on my experience I had back there. A great memory for sure!
