So Daffy and me got up early this morning and went down to Glendale FWA for the put-n-take pheasant clean up hunt. Got there about 8:10 and was the 40th hunter to sign in. I picked an area that no one else had picked so I could do some training while there. Get back to the truck and Daffy had jumped up on the console and broke my glasses. Oh boy, my eyes are getting bad. Get to the spot I picked and there were 3 cars parked and 6 hunters with 2 dogs heading into the field. Crap. So I go down to the next parking area and there’s only 1 truck there. We get ready and walk into the field and Daffy immediately jumps a hen. It flys forever with Daffy in chase. It has flown towards the other hunters and I finally was able to call her back. We ended up kicking up 4 hens and 1 rooster. I got shots at 3 of them and missed all 6 times. Not sure what my deal was, other than not seeing real good. I think hopefully that Daffy learned you can’t just bust right up to the birds or they will just fly away. We shall see. I was proud of her though! Ran into a couple guys that had 2 pointers and they hadn’t seen a bird.

So when I had the chukar Daffy would always check them out and mess with them some. That’s why I have them in a small cage inside of a big cage. Now that I have the quail in there Daffy is going bananas over them! I think it’s a combination of her being more bird crazy now and that the quail freak out when she jumps at them. She plays a little game where she points them for a while then jumps at the cage. LOL

Nice job on the video Chase! To bad those birds wouldn't cooperate. If they would have been good fliers I would be headed back down to Loogootee for more. I've found a supply of chukar over by St. Louis but the guy works through the week and can only meet on the weekends and I work the next 3 weekends. I'm off tomorrow so I'll probably see if we can't find some wild birds. Oh, btw Chase...Thunder the poop eating Golden caught the one quail that was running around the yard.

Ended up doing chores all day Friday instead of hunting. Pitch forked a round bail of straw into a few different kennels and for the horses and Daffy was glad to help. Lol

Troy, have you seen the Python Cowboy youtube videos? I've been binge-watching his channel lately. He has a dog that looks like Daffy that retrieves invasive iguanas in Florida. It's pretty cool to watch. He also has one of his hog dogs trained to find pythons .

I’m pretty sure Otto is a German wire haired and not a griffon but he is awesome regardless! 👍
