 Greene-Sullivan State Forest Rainbow
« Thread Started on Mar 10, 2009, 1:25pm »

Here's a rainbow I caught a couple years ago at Greene-Sullivan State Forest. One spring I decided I wanted to catch one and on the second trip I finally did. Caught it on a worm, I think it was around 14 inches. It was the hardest fighting little fish I've ever caught, it went airbourne about 5 times while reeling it in! I brought it home and grilled it for lunch. ;D

I wouldn't mind catching one but it's hard to fish when you know you should be in the woods. ;)

Greene-Sullivan State Forest is made up of really old strip mined land, so the trout are stocked every spring. The lake that's stocked for trout does'nt really receive that much fishing pressure and the trout thrive in the clear deep water of the pit. So the fish that our stocked and can be kept at only 7 inches end up like this!:

There's not any wild trout in our part of the Hoosier State. ;)
